About a month ago, I posted something on my personal Facebook account asking for anyone who hated Donald J. Trump to tell me exactly how he has harmed you personally. I was astonished when I didn't get a single reply. I don't know if people thought I was kidding or what, but I was very serious. I think that silence is a huge response. For months, many people having been saying so many things about him, some true and some false.
I sit and think back about President Lincoln whom people fought tooth and nail, and wonder if it would have been as bad then as it is today. Considering the impact of social media and the accessibility of fake news, my guess is that it would have been worse. I know, even today, some people don't like him.
Lincoln was accused of a multitude of things when he was trying to free the slaves. There has always been spin, and you can still find people on both sides of the aisle who both hate and love him today.
Despite all the arguments, the most important result of the Civil War is that PEOPLE WERE FREED. And, I am telling you, it almost didn't happen because bureaucrats back then were as bad as they are now.
The opposition didn't care about the morality of slavery. They didn't care about truth. All his enemies knew were that they hated the President perhaps BECAUSE he was trying to do what was right. It reminds me of the media and the Left and their treatment of President Trump today.
President Trump is also trying to do what is right. He is also trying to use EXISTING laws that have been on the books to help him do what is right yet, his opposition is also fighting him tooth and nail. It seems that history is repeating itself, once again.
I am not saying that Donald Trump will go down in history as one of our greatest Presidents, please don't misunderstand. All I am saying is that it appears that we finally have someone in the Oval office who actually wants to protect our country, get rid of waste and fraud, and make it a great country again. It seems like the partisan media and opposition party are fighting him every step of the way, as they try to make every misstep into the greatest presidential scandal in history.
I would just like to remind you of a painfully obvious reality-- we are all human and we all make mistakes. There are always growing pains. We have all said things we wish we hadn't, and like my Mother always told me, when one finger is pointing at someone else, three more are pointing back at you.
So, when we might ask what has happened to a country when the opposition of the President of the United States are so angry with him, even when he is trying to do the right thing, remember, it isn't new. Some things haven't changed.
I sure hope it does though.
