It is time for us to stand up!
The time for division is behind us. We, “bitter clingers” as the left likes to call us, need to stand together and support each other so that after the inauguration of President-Elect Trump, we can demand that Congress get the following items done, as soon as possible. Like Michael Bane, from the Outdoor Channel show, “Shooting Gallery” says, we need to stand together and support each other’s ideas.
This means hunters, my grandpa’s shotgun guy, trap and skeet shooters, the 3-gunners, IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) shooters, AR-15’ers, or the first-time conceal carriers to the ‘this is my 50th gun I own’ collector- now is the time for the every member of the gun culture to stand together as one voice and tell our elected government officials “We want National Reciprocity, suppressors off the NFA list, FOPA (Firearms Owner Protection Act) made stronger, and the Second Amendment secured.”

Obtaining National Reciprocity
The National Reciprocity Act is about concealed carry in all fifty states, D.C. and municipalities. This means that one state will have to honor all other states’ carry permits and vice versa. This is the only way that states, such as New Jersey, will ever give their citizens the right to carry without repercussions from the law. Also, it will simplify the carry laws between states, and we no longer will need to remember a long list of do’s and don’ts when we cross state lines.
Removing Suppressors from the National Firearm Act list
The National Firearm Act was enacted in 1934 to control the following weapons: full auto firearms, suppressors, and any other weapons. Click here to learn more about the NFA.
Suppressors should be declassified and removed from the NFA because they are what I call a “safety hearing device.” A person should be able to walk into a gun store and buy one without a background check, like ammo. While some people may believe it might be a bad idea, a suppressor is just like the muffler on your vehicle- it only deadens the noise of the muzzle blast, that’s it.
Overseas, in places like in places like England, France, and New Zealand, suppressors can be purchased a lot easier than obtaining a firearm. These places view them as hearing-protection devices, and we should start looking at them in the same way. If you are interested in a suppressor, I recommend Silencer Shop. They will help you with all the paperwork, and hopefully, soon, you will just be able to order from them directly, without the hassle of paperwork.
FOPA needs to be revamped to cover all forms of travel in the USA. Originally, FOPA was designed to protect firearm owners who were traveling from place to place across the country. Some state and municipalities have interpreted FOPA to cover travel only in a private vehicle, but not other forms, such as air travel.
Here is an example of how FOPA can be twisted: A person who has legally checked his firearm at his home state airport is traveling to the other side of the country. Along the way, the airline diverts the plane to Chicago due to something beyond its control, and lands at the Chicago O’Hare International Airport. After the plane lands, and the gun owner exits the plane, a representative from the airline notifies him that he must claim his luggage and proceed to a different airline to complete his travel. When the gun owner goes to claim his firearm, he could face potential arrest for possession of a weapon because Chicago does not interpret air travel with a weapon as legal under FOPA.
Securing the Second Amendment
In order to do this, we need to ensure we have pro-constitutional judges appointed to the SCOTUS. The only way we, as the gun culture, can achieve this goal is by joining together. There is no better way to achieve this than to join the National Rifle Association.
The NRA is now the 800-pound gorilla in the room, but gun owners need to turn it into a one-ton gorilla. We need to get every gun owner possible in America to join. If you are already a member of the NRA, I salute you. If not, or if you know someone who is not a member, please get them to join. Also, let’s start to change the minds of the people who are on the fence about guns, and show them guns are not bad, if used safely. Family members can learn to use guns responsibly.
I am a competitive shooter in IDPA. I like to shoot AR-15’s and pistols with standard capacity magazines, or what the left calls, ‘high capacity magazines.’ Also, I am an avid collector of firearms. I am a life member of the NRA, and proud of it. I do not hunt, but that being said, I will stand up for other peoples’ firearm rights, no matter what they like to do, in all legal firearm activities.
Let’s make our voice heard like we did during the election; we can do this. We are the sleeping giant. I encourage you to join the NRA. The membership fees are $40 for one year, but if you go to the following website, you can get $10 off a one-year membership price. Why not save some money while protecting your Second Amendment Rights?
Together we can finally get the proper 2nd Amendment legislation that’s been desperately needed. These are “common sense” measures all gun enthusiast and 2nd Amendment supporters can get behind.
