Lanterns: Snoop Dogg Advocates Violence Against Police and President Trump

Snoop Dogg Advocates Violence Against Police and President Trump

American rap artist, Snoop Dogg, released his latest music video, where a clown named “Ronald Klump” gets shot with a plastic gun, and a cop wearing clown make-up shoots a man smoking weed.

In the song, Snoop tackles Trump, marijuana, and police brutality. Snoop raps, “f—k the police, from a black man’s point of view… spray that sh—t, say that sh—t, we right in front of you, each and every one of you.” The word “spray” is slang for the use of firing “large amount of bullets at one time.”

Later the controversial rapper sings, “Real talk, I’m leaving all you clown a— niggas outlined in chalk.” Snoop continued. “I’ll send you back to the earth.”

In an explanation of the song, the rapper told Billboard that “It’s a lot of clowns— going on that we could just sit and talk on the phone all day about.” Snoop, who has stood by the black lives matter movement and protests against police and the president said, “it’s a few issues that we really wanted to lock into like police, the president and just life in general.”

He went on to say, “a song that was not controversial but real — real to the voice of the people who don’t have a voice.”

Marco Rubio, who is a huge hip-hop fan and harsh critic of Trump, said,“Snoop shouldn’t have done that … You know, we’ve had presidents assassinated before in this country, so anything like that is really something that you should be very careful about.”

“I think people can disagree … [but] you’ve got to be very careful about that kind of thing, because the wrong person sees that and gets the wrong idea, you can have a real problem. So, I’m not sure what Snoop was thinking, he should think about that a little bit.”

It will be hard for some people to take Snoop’s message about gun safety seriously, though, due to his arrests for illegal gun possession, glorification of gun violence in rap songs, and now his promotion of drugs, murder, and racial divide.

Shock value and political edginess will never make society progress when the recommendation to fix a problem is to shoot police officers and the President of the United States.
