PETA, the animal rights organization, published a new video that claims milk symbolizes white supremacy, and people who drink it could mean they’re racist.
The group posted the video on their Twitter account that reads, “Did you know that milk has long been a symbol used by white supremacists?” The video ad states “milk has long been a symbol used by white supremacists as a thinly veiled allegory for racial purity.”
The video continues to cite Jordan Peele’s new horror movie “Get Out,” a film that explores subtle racism in a post-racial America. In the film, there is a drawn-out scene that shows a racist white woman slowly drinking milk from a straw.
PETA highlights Jordan Peele’s comments about milk, where he states “there’s something horrific about milk. Think about it! Think about what we’re doing. Milk is kind of gross.”
This isn’t the first time PETA has made controversial claims. Back in November 2016, PETA received massive backlash, for comparing rape survivors to pigs and cows.
Later in the video, PETA briefly explain how it’s animal abuse to extract milk from cows. They could’ve avoided criticism by making a legitimate argument about the torture that happens on farms, however, they decided to link milk to racism. The video concludes with a message to the people saying, “cow’s milk [is] the perfect drink for supremacist everywhere.” They continue. “The white stuff isn’t the right stuff.”
