Vice President Mike Pence, who is also President of the Senate under the United States Consitution, has been called into the Senate Chamber to cast a tie breaking vote to start debate on a resolution that would reverse an Obama administration action that prevents states from witholding funding for Planned Parenthood.
After Republican Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska casted a no vote with the Democrats, the Republicans needed to call on Senator Johnny Isakson from Georgia who had been in recovery for back surgery to bring the vote total to a 50-to-50 tie. Isakson used a walker to get to the floor in order to cast his vote. Pence cast his vote moving the resolution forward for debate.
Planned Parenthood has been a target for Conservatives since it has been using tax funding for performing abortions. Base on Planned Parenhood’s reporting shows that in 2014 annual abortion services reached $323,999,000. Planned Parenthood has reported that they received $553,700,000 from Government Health Service Grants & Reimbursements.
Planned Parenthood has recently been in the news lately after a video was released showing Planned Parenthood representatives explaining the sale of body parts.
The video comes out a day after Center for Medical Progress (CMP) head David Daleiden and his co-investigator Sandra Merrit were charged with 15 felonies in California for secretly recording the conversations.
