What struck me was that so many of the "facts" that Kimmel presented were the same half-truths that we hear from so many of the Democrats or from the headlines from the Trump hating Washington Post. "Facts" such as stating how many would be losing their healthcare (coverage) or how much money will be lost from that care. Instead, they ignore the truth that people will no longer be forced, by threat from the government, to purchase the government's chosen plans, but could instead pursue other options for care or the fact that some of the responsibilities from the federal government will be given to the states.
Headline from a Daily Beast article: Jimmy Kimmel Got a Hand From Chuck Schumer in His Fight Against Obamacare Repeal. The article states that:
Behind the scenes, the ABC star was (for the last two months) getting an assist. Kimmel and his team were in touch with health care officials, charities and advocacy groups, multiple sources told The Daily Beast. He also was in touch with the office of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y) who, according to a source familiar with their conversations, “provided technical guidance and info about the bill, as well as stats from various think tanks and experts on the effects of [Graham-Cassidy].”
If you read the entire article you will note that the Daily Mail is very much sympathetic to Jimmy Kimmel and his stance but you will also notice that not once did anyone seek information from those that support the bill.
I would suggest we look deeper than comedians in setting the country’s policies.
