How do you fight a giant-- someone or something who wants you to think they are bigger than you are? How do you take a stand against the big bad government?
Let me tell you how I fight back, MY WAY!!!!!! I might be short, and I might be a “girl,” but believe you me, I’m a tiger when it comes to fighting for my family, friends, and nation!
However, as everyone has probably noticed by now, I don’t write a lot about politics. It’s not that I don’t have an opinion, in fact, I have very strong opinions about politics, politicians, and the government. I don’t like labels. Let’s just say I don’t believe in abortion; I believe in the Bible; I believe less government is not just better, but BEST. I think you get the picture. And it’s not that I don’t believe my opinions don’t count; that couldn’t be further from the truth.
No, I simply would rather approach change from a different angle. How do we change the world around us? One life, one mind, one heart at a time. So I fight back my own way!
I’m a woman, so, of course, I fight like a woman.
Let’s face it, the left, liberals, socialists, communists, and big-brother goons would like for us to all be shaking in our boots, ballet slippers, loafers, or whatever foot gear you’re into these days.
Nope, not me. What do I think is the best way to fight back? By living my life, by helping others, by finding joy and peace whenever and however, and with whomever I can!
Part of my “weaponry” include the everyday things I do to bring myself and others joy. Smiling at people, saying good morning to friends, co-workers, and even strangers. Telling the clerk or the bagger at the grocery store, “Thank You.” By writing these articles to encourage and lift others up, and sharing my thoughts and feelings about certain subjects, I want others to know they are not alone, and it’s ok to feel what they feel, whatever that is. I want them to know that there is “hope at the end of the rainbow” which appears after the storm and sometimes even during the storm.
I like to share recipes, crafts, do it yourself projects, funny jokes, uplifting and encouraging stories, and cute animal pictures. These are all things that we can unite and agree upon.
I believe that if we can take our focus off the negative-- war, politics, the hate, and the evil, even if it’s just for a little while each day, we’ll make room for the positive-- the love, joy, and the possibilities of better tomorrows. This might be a little bit of a “Pollyanna” way of thinking, but it works.
I have a “vision board” of dreams, pretty pictures, and positive quotes that I’m just beginning to put on one of my walls at home. I have a “vision board album” on my phone with almost 900 pictures in it! That’s not even including all the pictures that I have of my family and friends, or my fourlegged-furry-friend, Kaci, or the flowers in my yard.
I also have three Facebook groups: one is for recipes. One is for crafts and do-it-yourself projects, and my favorite is one for the funny jokes, pictures, and encouraging stories. I call it Time4AChange
These are all open groups, and all someone has to do is to request to join. ( It might take me a day or two if I’m at work). There are “pinned posts” at the top of each group that explain the rules. Basically, no cussing or fussing, or politics (naturally), sorry, no sports-- fans get “overheated” sometimes. I don't want anything controversial. I want these groups to give people a “safe place to escape to” when they get tired of the standard Facebook drama.
So, there you have it. That’s how I fight back! Even on my “I don’t feel so great” days, I find at least one thing to make myself happy and one thing to make someone else smile, even if it’s just a text or a phone call.
If I can do it, so can you-- one life, one mind, one heart, ONE SMILE AT A TIME!
