Earlier Lanterns Media Buzz reported on the kerfuffle Mr. Yiannopoulos stirred up as a video surfaced of his apparent support of pedophilia. In the aftermath, CPAC uninvited the political provocateur from speaking at the Conservative conference and with mounting pressure also lost his book deal with Simon & Schuster.
Today, Milo Yiannopoulos resigned from his position as Tech Editor at Breitbart News. He wrote in a statement over the situation that “Breitbart News has stood by me when others have caved…I would be wrong to allow my poor choice of words to detract from my colleagues’ important reporting, so today I am resigning from Breitbart, effective immediately.”
In response Breitbart released their own statement over the situation:
Milo Yiannopoulos’s bold voice has sparked much-needed debate on important cultural topics confronting universities, the LBGTQ community, the press, and the tech industry.
Milo notified us this morning of his decision to resign as editor of Breitbart Tech and we accepted his resignation.
Milo has made no comment on his future plans.
