Liberals Smear the Parents in Rockville Rape

Originally posted at Politichicks.com

Two men, at least one of them an illegal alien, both of them high school students, allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl in the Rockville, Maryland high school bathroom.   When parents and residents called to express outrage, THEY became the target of none other than the local Superintendent of Schools.

Superintendent Jack R. Smith  — I call him Jack — began serving as Superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools on July 1, 2016, in the state of Maryland.  Of course, Jack does not make state policy; he is only tasked with implementing it.

Smith said the illegal-alien rape must not become a political issue. [Why NOT??]

“While some would try to make this into a question and an issue of immigration, what comes down here is that we serve every student that walks in our door,” he said. “We are a public school system.”

After all, Jack is just following the orders in his Sanctuary State.

It is the official policy of the state of Maryland to aggressively recruit illegal immigrants  and shield them from deportation (emphasis added):

Maryland is perhaps the most welcoming state for illegal aliens and refugees in the Eastern United States, with Montgomery County the most welcoming county in the state. Maryland gives in-state tuition rates to illegal-alien college students. Montgomery County is already a sanctuary county, denying 63 ICE requests to turn over illegal-alien criminals last year, Fox News reported.

Indeed, just days after the alleged rape, Democrats in Maryland’s House of Delegates passed a bill preventing police from investigating the immigration status of suspects they arrest.  Moreover, officers are blocked from detaining suspects in jail until federal authorities can deport them.  Once here, the Supreme Court landmark case Plyler v. Doe guarantees children of illegals the right to a public school education under the Equal Protection Clause.

Deftly avoiding questions about the rape incident for days until confronted at his office parking lot, Jack was very quick to make his political point defending illegal alien education, issuing a statement to all parents of the district (read the full statement below).  It read in part (emphasis added):

While I know this tragic incident has become part of a national political debate, I want to remind community members that the lives of real students have been forever affected. While many have chosen to engage civilly in the conversation, far too many have crossed the line with racist, xenophobic calls and emails. MCPS is working with law enforcement to identify those who are making threats toward our students and schools. This behavior will not be tolerated in our community.

Ya get that?  Jack targets as the bad guys the evil parents and community members who called and emailed making supposedly xenophobic and racist comments.  Yet, nowhere in his written statement does Jack condemn the rapists.  Notice whom the Education Establishment considers the “bad guys”?

Jack expresses no anger or outrage at the alleged rapists.  Worse, he gratuitously defends illegal immigrants attending his school.  Jack instead attacks the people upset that an alleged illegal immigrant rapist could be allowed to stay in the public schools with the explicit approval of the Maryland state government.

So while Jack labels the crime a terrible thing — as if a natural disaster or car accident —  the real problem seems to be with those “crossing the line” and making comments he considers xenophobic and racist.  Once again, liberalism conflates ethnicity with lawlessness to confuse the issue in Americans’ minds.

I posted meme capturing what Mr. Smith said about concerned parents in his school district.

At the time of publication, the meme has gone viral on Facebook with a reach of over 3 million and more than 40,000 comments.  This issue resonates with all Americans across the nation, not just in Rockville, Maryland.

The Left sees the story, “illegal immigrant rapes young girl,” and impulsively reacts by aggressively defending illegal immigration and viciously attacking anyone who questions it.  They promptly deploy the customary labels of racism, xenophobia, and any other —phobia or —ism that can be conjured to silence and demean dissenters.  That a girl was raped does not upset the Left in the slightest.  Just as throughout Europe, the Left views raped women as acceptable collateral damage toward achieving the larger political goal of globalism and voting power.

At the end of the day, the Left views illegal immigration as a means ultimately to increase its voting base.  They want to import and legalize millions of pro-socialist voters, and illegal immigrants tend to come from third world nations with socialist governments.  Liberals use the issue of race to conflate the politics and mask the true trait they desire-- an inclination to vote for bigger government programs.

Americans are furious at being called “racist” for demanding respect for America’s border and national sovereignty.  Liberals smear Americans’ profound respect for the law and attempt to distinguish legal from illegal immigration.  Americans are furious at being impugned and called names by arrogant media and liberals while law breakers get preferential treatment under the very laws they broke getting here.

As reported by WND, below is Superintendent Dr. Jack Smith’s complete email sent to parents last Thursday:

Dear MCPS Community:

As you may have heard or read, a serious incident occurred at Rockville High School on March 16, 2017. While I can’t share many details because it is an ongoing police investigation, I can share that the incident involves allegations of rape and the arrest of two students.

The allegations presented in the charging documents are horrible and unacceptable. They do not represent the positive values of our students and school communities. Our thoughts are with the student who reported the incident and her family. Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is committed to supporting them through these difficult times.

Please know that our school staff immediately contacted the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) once they were informed about the alleged sexual assault. MCPS continues to fully cooperate with MCPD and the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office on this matter.

Rockville High School staff, with the support of the MCPS administration, are working closely with their community to heal after this tragedy. Tuesday night, the Rockville High School Parent Teacher Student Association held a meeting where police and school representatives provided an update on the investigation, school security and MCPS policies. The community used this opportunity to express their concerns and ask questions of the principal, law enforcement and MCPS staff.

In addition to the questions we heard last night, we have received many questions from community members seeking to learn more about our policies. To help answer these questions we have created a web page that includes information and resources about our system policies; frequently asked questions and more. We will continue to update the page as more information becomes available.

MCPS is committed to the safety and security of our students and schools. In the coming days, we will share more about our efforts to ensure the safety of every student in our 204 schools.

Respectfully,

Jack R. Smith

Superintendent of Schools
